I don't think we will be eating store bought syrup after tasting this amazing goodness!
not the healthiest, but is eating pan"cakes" for breakfast acceptable? My thoughts are it can't be any worse then a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch right?
We heard a comedian once tell the following story: "A mother was with her child and she grabbed a piece of cake away from the child and then handed him a pancake with lots of gooey syrup on it and while she did so she said 'you can't have cake for breakfast!'
Needless to say cake for breakfast, lunch or dinner is a favorite in the Bingham home especially with buttermilk syrup! Thanks to Denise my sister for sharing her recipe so you all can enjoy it too!

Supplies/Directions:
1 cup butter and melt
2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
put in pan in order above
bring to boil
remove from heat
add
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp vanilla
it gets frothy and it may boil over so use a larger pan
Put in jars and let sit. Using a funnel may make things easier. (it will shrink slightly and if making two batches you can pour the second batch on top of the first batch to make full jars... I learned this after I made mine)
lasts 2 weeks in the fridge (we have never been able to test this as it is eaten way too quickly)
6 months in the freezer

Yaaay! I looooooove this recipe. It's the same one that I use and I am pleased to say that I haven't purchased store-bought syrup in probably 2 years. Well, maybe not pleased because hello, I could certainly stand to cut back on my pancake intake... You have to try it on sourdough pancakes. Sounds funny, yes, but it's seriously so good.

Ilove this recipe too! But I eat mine on oatmeal pancakes (makes me feel better about the whole pancake situation) I didn't, however, realize that you can freeze it! AWESOME!!!!

We were with Ty's family once making ice cream sundaes and one of the nieces wanted just whipped cream. Her dad says: You HAVE to have some ice cream with your whipped cream!! I laughed SO hard!

Hey Julie! It's Tara I'm commenting to ask a question and to comment on that syrup. Last year I made that exact same recipe quite alot and it is delicious!! I need to start making it again and yes the first time I made it it bubbled over and made a huge sticky mess! Oh and my question is this how do you add friends? Or can you even? Do I just ask to be a follower? Anyways I'm going to see you in awhile anyways so I will just ask you then. Thanks you're great1
