is her mommy's little princess who reminds me daily that a love and a kiss can make EVERYTHING better!

On September 26 my Addilyn turned ONE!!! Ryan and I decided that we should do something special so when so woke up she would know it was a different day (or that is what we hoped she would think) So we blew up some balloons and made a sign. At about 6:45 AM on the 26th we woke to her babbling and the sound of balloons being touched. We hoped that she would go back to sleep with her bottle, but to no avail, the balloons were just too exciting.

After Haylee woke up we sang to her and she smiled. All day we reminded her that it was her special day. She was VERY happy all day. I think she enjoyed being the center of attention! That night, I made two small heart cakes one for Addilyn and one for Haylee. We put the candle in front of her, and she immediately backed away. She never even tried to blow it out! Haylee did it for her. Then we removed the candle and encouraged her to "dig in." I thought she would destroy it. But I was surprised, Haylee tried to show her how to grab and eat, but Addilyn just delicately nibbled at some of the frosting and then cried to get out of the chair. Either she doesn't like cake or was just having an off day for eating, as she gets way more messy every night at dinner!

We gave her a spoon thinking it would encourage her to get messy... but it did not work! This is all that she actually ate, and Haylee took one bite to show her how to eat it!
We didn't really want to go all out for gifts, as we have lots of toys in the house, but every little girl does need her own baby. So here is Baby Emma. Addilyn immediately knew that it was her doll and every time Haylee tried to look at it, she cried out. She snuggled it and loved it and really enjoyed her baby's bottle. She even loved the box with the pictures on it. At one point I was cleaning up the trash and was starting to pick up the box, and she came crawling over screaming at me as though she was telling me to stop taking away her box. So funny!
Addilyn loves a cuddly blanket. She is not to the point where she won't take any kind of minke/silky combination, but she is starting to recognize this particular one and smiles when she finds it on the floor.
