Casa Grande Triathalon

On 3 November 2007, Ryan and about 350 other people participated in the Casa Grande Triathalon held at Central Arizona College. He had been training for a while and then got sick and did some traveling so he had gotten out of his usual training schedule. So two days before the event he went to the YMCA and did a trial run of all the events. He felt great so two days later we headed down to Casa Grande. We had the babies and just pulled them out of bed. The event started around 7:00AM. Swiming 400 m, Bike 10.2 miles and then Running 3 miles. Ryan is a really strong swimmer and due to the pool size, the start times are determined on your swim. He was in the top 25 or so. He did really great on the swim and we cheered him on the whole time. He even made eye contact for the picture. Then he did the bike. It took him a long time to come back, and after all was said and done, we found out that he and about the first 75 swimmers out went an extra 4-6 miles on the bike. After the bike he took off on the run and did pretty well for being on the bike an extra 20 minutes. All in all he didn't break his previous records due to the detour, but he felt pretty good about the entrire event. His biggest fans were there to cheer him on and we had a good time!

All of the participants anxiously waiting for the swim. Ryan is the one in the long sleeve white shirt with the black swim suit.

In the pool he actually passed 2 people and made eye contact with the girls.
We were so proud of him.

Waiting for the participants near the bike.

Ryan coming in about 50 feet from the finish line! 'Go Daddy' was heard as he enthusiastically slapped Haylee's hand. She was beaming!

Adam Merril (Ryan's cousin) and Kevin Homstad (Ryan's friend)
They both did great!

Ryan and his little girlies!!! They were so proud of their daddy and had such a
fun time playing in the dirt and watching the event!
