Camping!

So a while back Haylee decided that she wanted to sleep in a tent and go camping. Finally we were able to find a weekend where we didn't have stuff planned. We packed up the truck and drove up to the rim. We found a nice little camping spot away from lots of people where we could have fires and set up. It was windy and cool. The girls were so excited, they just kept talking and talking.
We put up the tent, and immediately the girls wanted to "go to bed." We convinced them that we needed to eat dinner, roast marshmallows over the campfire and tell stories. So we warmed up some stew and rolls that I made at home and ate dinner.
Then we sat by the campfire wrapped in all the warm clothes we brought eating/roasting marshmallows.
Finally we let them go in the tent and get in their beds. They were so excited to sleep in sleeping bags, a tent and have to worry about bears (Haylee kept asking if there were bears). So we got all tucked in and they just couldn't calm down. They ended up playing in their beds and Haylee kept her flashlight on all night.
Elyse slept with my in my sleeping bag as she would wake up every time I put her down. Ryan ended up sleeping on Addie and Haylee's air matress because at varying times of the night they both tried to snuggle in with him on my air matress. Needless to say it was a restless but fun night. Addilyn woke with the sun and so did Elyse. Eventually we started a fire and cooked some yummy breakfast of sausage, eggs, and muffins. Addilyn was Daddy's good helper in the "kitchen."
After breakfast, Elyse went down for a nap so Ryan also took a little nap. The girls and I decided to go exploring. We found little flowers and made wreaths. They played with their babies and drew on rocks with sandstone rocks. They were filthy dirty and loving every minute of it.
After everyone woke up, we cleaned up camp and then went to Woods Canyon Lake. Apparently it was free fishing day for the state of AZ so it was a crazy busy with tons of people. We fished for about 5 minutes and then the girls were done. We went to a picnic area and ate sandwhiches and then drove home.
The girls were so dirty and had such a fun time. We have decided that we need to go more often as we had such a fun time camping! While at the lake, a man was taking pictures of the girls. He was from the game and fish department and one of them is posted at this web site. http://www.azgfd.net/fish/mogollon-rim/mogollon-rim-lakes-3/2009/06/17/
