Kindergarten Field Day!

Kindergarten Field Day... (it was postponed a week due to wet fields. Yes I am serious) I got the memo that field day was here and signed up to help. It was a windy and cold day but the kids all seemed to have a great time. I have to admit I was a little surprised by the day's events. I can't remember much of field day except that we had to jump over hurdles, run the 50 yard dash, and throw a softball. I was pleasantly surprised with I found 2 1/2 hours of activities for the kids... yes you read that right, 21/2 hours of physical activities for the kids to do. Needless to say Haylee slept VERY well that night.
Observations from the day-
1 In Kindergarten, Field Day is group competitions with everyone being the winners
2. Events are not really the 'typical' events but focus more to teach coordination and fun
3. Kindergartners love to cheer for each other.
Some of the activities included:
balancing a bean bag on your head and walking to a hula hoop and then running back
crab walk to try and kick the ball out of the circle
sports drink station (they had to take a break and drink.)
Frisbee balance
holding a ball at the hip and racing with partner
gunny sack race
tug of war (individual and team)
dance freeze (dance and then find a carpet when the music stops)
snow cone station
balance a marble on a spoon and walk around a cone
ride on small skateboard inspired carts around a cone
push a tire
and hula hoop of course...

Aren't you tired? Haylee sure was!
Officially a fun day at kindergarten. I was so happy that I got to go and take part in all the fun!
Only complaint... no ribbons!
