When Life Gives you Lemons...

Make Lemonade!
The other day our lemon tree was kindly trimmed by the hay truck delivery. It was an old tree and sort of in the way to get to the back yard. So after a large old branch was taken down, the girls and I gathered all the lemons from the branches. I seriously had at least 10 full bags. So in our lovely AZ weather the girls and I juiced them on the back porch. We juiced all evening off and on. Everything was sticky, but we were successful and made tons of lemon concentrate to last through summer. I freeze the juice in 1 cup bags so I can mix it with 5 cups water and 1 cup sugar. We have been enjoying fresh lemonade ever since. This is one of my favorite drinks... so I am in heaven!
My best little juicer... She used all her little strength and still only could juice a couple of lemons and then got so tired! What a trooper!

My neighbor had some oranges so we threw those in as well. It tasted so yummy!

This just screams Arizona! It's calling me home. Such a great treat through the summer. I can't wait to have space for another freezer. Addilyn is about the cutest little worker I've seen. Although I'm sure you were very cute yourself.

Hey! I need some of that! Oh how I wish I could be outside, squeezing lemons. And I don't really even like lemonade. Ohhhh, the sadness.

I might come by for some of that FRESH lemonade when I'm down there this week... then you can show me your baby quilt. I really want to start making them!

i LOVE ice cold fresh lemonade! (It is a great natural detox, too. Kicks the liver into gear.) And I love warm lemonade in the winter! You can also slice a washed lemon, boil it (the whole thing) and then add honey. This way you get the good stuff to steep out of the peel, too. Great for colds and everyday immunity maintenance. Plus there are lemon squares. Yummoes! Yay for Lemons!!!
